Details, details

Last week, I went round and round experimenting with the docker commands. By the end of the week, I felt comfortable with starting and stopping containers and running Intersystems IRIS in a container.   This week, the goal is to get a handle on the development environment.   Step one: get Visual Studio Code installed.  Tip for my foggy Monday brain - Visual Studio Code is not the same as Visual Studio.  It's okay though, my side track revealed that Visual Studio has a free community edition (which will help my son finish his coding class) and I did get Visual Studio Code (also free). By the end of the day, Visual Studio Code is installed and I successfully created a test class in my namespace.  Ended the day by cleaning out my IRIS instance so tomorrow I can start again with experimenting. Starting again...

1 May 2021 A year has passed. A year in relative quarentine. A year when I should have made great progress in refactoring the fundraising product and moving said product from Intersystems Cache to Intersystem IRIS.  What did I really accomplish? Putting out "fires" to support emergency needs in fundraising season, man hours of personal reading, coloring and TV watching. Now that life is beginning to move back towards some sembalance of "normal", the push to migrate and improve the product has begun again.  For the past week, I have found myself swimming (maybe flailing or dog paddling) around in the documentation. So many possibilities and no clear "do this" quickstart.
