Last week, I went round and round experimenting with the docker commands. By the end of the week, I felt comfortable with starting and stopping containers and running Intersystems IRIS in a container. This week, the goal is to get a handle on the development environment. Step one: get Visual Studio Code installed. Tip for my foggy Monday brain - Visual Studio Code is not the same as Visual Studio. It's okay though, my side track revealed that Visual Studio has a free community edition (which will help my son finish his coding class) and I did get Visual Studio Code (also free). By the end of the day, Visual Studio Code is installed and I successfully created a test class in my namespace. Ended the day by cleaning out my IRIS instance so tomorrow I can start again with experimenting. If it seems like I take two steps forward and three steps back, I'm doing so intentionally.
